Manali to Ladakh: The Best Route to Take

Manali to Ladakh:
Manali Leh Highway is one of the roads that lead to heaven on earth called Leh – Ladakh (Srinagar – Leh Highway is the other one).

It is one of those Highways in the world which offers almost everything nature has to offer to an adventure lover.

Road to Ladakh

It starts from Manali at Shimla towards Leh and then proceeds further to Leh on the right side of Spiti Valley, one of the most beautiful snow-clad regions of the Himalayas.

It runs on the north bank of the Indus River till Leh and then it goes to the south side on the banks of the Zanskar River till Zanskar.

It then continues to Chushul and on the journey to Khardung La and Jawalakhel Pass, it runs on the north side of Ladakh.

Waterfall at Zanskar River: Zanskar River, also called Zanskar River, is one of the tributaries of the Indus River and the Indus-Tasuk River basin.

The Zanskar River flows through a high range of the mountains between Kargil and Leh in Ladakh. In India, it is called the Godavari River (as it flows in the Godavari District of Telangana).

The river is unspeakably beautiful.

Best time to travel (season)

The best time to travel by road from Leh to Manali is between October and June when the road is free of snow and dust.

Travel duration The distance between Manali and Leh is about 286 km, but the road is often blocked for months in the winter due to heavy snowfall.

In other seasons the road is open and can be done in about four days. Safety Well, yes – there are accidents and roadblocks all over the world, but we certainly feel safer on the Leh Leh Highway than on the Srinagar – Leh Highway.

The Leh Leh Highway is surrounded by mountains, which provide a safe retreat during bad weather.

The road is so well maintained that even a truck that has broken down can be moved without any problem. Ladakh was badly affected during the floods of 2013, but this highway was seen as busy as ever.

With so many options to travel to Leh over the years, it was not a tough task for me to find out the best option to travel to Leh from Manali. However,
